and the little dog laughed was launched in 2008 by Australian designer, Kylie Platt.
Kylie has a passion for fabrics and design, and particularly loves to combine textures and mediums; knits and fabrics, stretch and floral cottons, adding different layers to a piece that would otherwise be one dimensional.
Kylie draws a lot of inspiration from her own childhood, and particularly likes to create timeless pieces that evoke a sense of nostalgia. The inspiration for the labels' name comes from one of her favourite nursery rhymes, Hey Diddle Diddle.
With an initial launch of the brands' signature hand crochet blankets and knitted softie range for babies in 2010, this has evolved over time to include the ever popular and growing range of wool blend softies with knitted Australian merino wool clothing.

Cleckheaton
Cleckheaton began its Australian history in 1948, when an Australian knitwear manufacturer Mr. Fred James travelled to Yorkshire, England to purchase fine, pure wool worsted yarn, which had been in continual short supply in Australia. He bought the yarn and much more: the entire worsted spinning mill, Cleckheaton (Yorkshire) Ltd. A year later, the plant, together with managers and mill hands, was transported 20,000 kilometres to Shepparton, Victoria. Success followed. With further acquisitions, the company grew and in 1980 merged with Wangaratta Woollen Mills.
For the past two decades Cleckheaton has justly earned the status and position of a premium quality brand that has established a loyal following not only in Australia and New Zealand but in markets all over the world.

Paola Reina is a company that is born in the bosom of a family in the foia of Castalla (Alicante) in 1994.
Our sculptors, designers, stylists and professionals of this fantastic world are going to put in their hands babies and dolls of maximum quality, without phthalates, with perfume of vanilla, textiles of maximum quality, design and originality. All this is done in Europe: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French and English textiles; German, Italian and Spanish hair; Spanish dressmaking; Spanish and German sculpture; Spanish, German and French design; and a Spanish production.
Since one sees it is a completely European company, that every year tries that more countries join the product development.
Creation and design.
The best specialists, with years of experience and knowledge of the process, take charge of the design and the creation of our dolls and its complements. Putting in their work wide technical and creative knowledge.
Handmade.
Our products are completely handmade. The decoration of the dolls (freckles, cheeks, lips etc.) as well as the hairstyles and the assembling of the complements are carried out in a completely manual form.

The used material comply with all the European regulations of quality and safety, excluding phthalates.
Eyes.
The eyes are of “crystal“, hard and transparent plastic.
Vinyl.
It is a material (polyvinyl of chloride) to which we give the hardness that is convenient. In the present in this sector a softer material is used more to give the most pleasant tact. Also following the manufacturers' dolls traditions we add the perfume of vanilla during the production so that you dolls have this pleasant fragrance and fill room of your child with a delicate aroma of vanilla.
Filling.
The soft dolls have the bodies stuffed with fireproof acrylic fibre.
Textiles.
The used textiles are of high quality, designed by our stylists. The colors and the used patterns reflect the personality of each doll.
Hair.
The German or Italian hair that we use is of nylon of the first quality. We do not use the hair of polypropylene that is of low and easily flammable quality. The hair rooting is very dense and with a resistant sewing.

For decades, Patons was the leading hand knitting yarn brand but due to the market conditions in the mid 1980's, Patons felt the decline and eventually amalgamated with Alliance Textiles, New Zealand in 1996. In Japanese kanji symbolism, Toshi
means dawn of a new era. As we progress towards the future, our inspiration flows from the wonders of nature. Environmental consciousness prevails in the evolution of the brand.
The Toshi brand was established in 1999. Toshi Australia Pty Ltd is a privately owned company. Ananda Rubens is the founder and principal. Design, import-export and distribution is directed from the Melbourne head office.
The Toshi brand is represented by over 600 specialty stores, independent retailers and department stores throughout Australia, New Zealand and further afield internationally. -
Touch Yarns
Touch Yarns is a family owned and operated business spanning over 25 years and 3 generations.
In 1991 Marnie Kelly established the company, using softer superfine kid mohair, merino and polwarth wools to produce a range of knitting and weaving yarns that avoided the prickle factor of coarser knitting wools on the market.
The home of Touch Yarns was then, and still is, Central Otago, New Zealand. The stark beauty of thyme fields, mountains and the historic goldfields provide inspiration while the area boasts some of the world’s finest quality wool and mohair. With sharp seasonal climate variations and low rainfall, conditions are well suited for growing the high quality fibre used in Touch yarns.
In 2013 Touch moved into its current location – the wee cottage with the red door in the historic village of Clyde and so continues our journey to produce beautiful knitting yarns, timeless patterns, and unique colourways – from our family to yours.

At Vignette, our inspiration has always come from our daughters and a drive to raise them to be strong, independent, and intelligent women.
That if we raise every generation to be better than the current one we effect lasting change in the world. We want our girls and every girl to not just believe, but know and never question that they can and will accomplish anything they dream.
Over almost two decades, that inspiration has driven us to design clothes that make young girls feel inspired. While our style as a brand has moved from retro, to princess, to a touch more contemporary, the thread that ties it all together is the girl. Our own 'Vignette Girls' are a lovely mix of independent but loving, sweet but willful, and free-spirited but driven. These seeming contradictions when added together make for strong and inspirational young women.
